The Bush Of Ghosts

For me the standout track on this pioneering album, to which I came very late, is this low slung funk killer – which, to be quite honest, I knew retrospectively via the Stereo MCs – who delivered I think the best version of this devastating monster in 1988 – see below.

Eno & Byrne – My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts

The Original

What Is Soul?

But it was this version that I first heard in 1988.

I saw them live at the Astoria, supporting a Guy Called Gerald I seem to remember.

One of the heaviest beats ever made in my opinion. So dark and trippy, gleaming in the emerging sound system nights – this was a huge year for Psilocybin mushrooms. I’m not kidding!

The lyric version is fire also.
